Personal statement
My name is Nick Domminney. I am one of the Year 2 Architecture Course design tutors.
I have been a member of the Scottish Ecological Design Association (SEDA) since its set-up in 1991 and am now a board member and magazine editor. I was one of the first to receive RIAS Accreditation in Sustainable Construction and have had a commitment to sustainable and ecological design throughout my professional life.
- 1984 Qualified as an architect
- 1984 set up Architects & Builders Cooperative with newly qualified colleagues, providing architectural technical aid to community groups, campaigns and domestic grant applicants in Hull and beyond
- 1985 ABC joint founder of the Association of Community Technical Aid Centres (ACTAC).
- 1985- 2002 Tyne & Wear, Newcastle City Council, Glasgow District & City Councils- statutory services, special needs/dementia design, housing.
- 2002-2018 Gareth Hoskins Architects; director from 2006: award winning projects- National Trust for Scotland's Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre; 3-8 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh mixed use development; Greyfriars Community Project; major redevelopments of A Listed David Livingstone Birthplace, Blantyre and Aberdeen Art Gallery
- 2018 retired; tutored part-time at Mackintosh School of Architecture since 2016
- 2020: current position.
